Code of Conduct & Regulations
Within Historisch Schermgilde Limburg, we aim to maintain a safe, respectful, and well-organised sporting environment. On this page you will find the key governing documents and the practical rules that apply during all club activities.
The Articles of Association form the legal foundation of the club and describe, among other things, the purpose, structure, and formal regulations of HSGL.

Articles of Association
For inclusion, social safety, and standards of conduct, HSGL follows the Guidelines on Gender- and Sex-Diverse Persons issued by NOC*NSF, the official umbrella organisation for organised sport in the Netherlands, as its leading framework. Where our own regulations do not provide specific guidance, we align as far as reasonably possible with the principles and recommendations set out in this guidance.

HSGL applies a selective door policy in order to safeguard the social and physical safety of members, participants, and volunteers. The Board reserves the right to refuse or revoke access to training sessions or activities when this is deemed necessary in the interest of safety, order, or the club.

To ensure that classes remain safe, enjoyable, and well-structured, the following basic rules apply to all participants.
Respect and Conduct
-
Discrimination, racism, (sexual) harassment, abuse, or senseless violence are not tolerated within HSGL. Violations may result in suspension or termination of membership.
-
Treat one another with respect. We are here to learn and improve; mistakes are acceptable, but corrections must always be given respectfully.
Safety
-
Safety always comes first. Look out for one another and report unsafe situations immediately.
-
Follow the Safety Regulations at all times. Instructors and the Safety Committee have the final authority in matters of safety.
-
Insufficient or unsuitable equipment means no participation in higher-risk activities (e.g. sparring).
-
If you feel unwell or sustain an injury, inform the trainer immediately.
During Training
-
Listen to the instructor and follow their instructions. During explanations, remain attentive and do not wander.
-
If you have elaborate questions or wish to discuss something, please do so after training.
-
Guests are welcome, but must be announced to the club in advance.
Equipment
-
Club equipment is shared by everyone; rotate where necessary.
-
Treat borrowed equipment with care and report any damage.
-
Return and store equipment properly after use.
Personal Safety and Equipment
-
Wear comfortable and suitable clothing.
-
Long hair must be tied securely to prevent entanglement.
-
Remove jewellery during training; if this is not possible, it must be securely taped.
-
Bring water or a sports drink; a towel is recommended during intensive training.
Enforcement
In cases of serious misconduct or criminal behaviour, the Board reserves the right to report incidents to the police or other competent authorities.
