Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply when attenting classes and events organised by Historisch Schermgilde Limburg.

Article 1: General Terms and Conditions

​

  • We do not accept any forms of racism, discrimination, (sexual) intimidation, or senseless violence from our members. This can lead to denial of access to our classes and events, or termination of membership. Historisch Schermgilde Limburg does not want to be associated with groups or organisations which advocate for violence or discrimination, and reserves the right to deny access or terminate memberships if a member is found be involved with said groups or organisations. In case of membership termination, a member may always appeal their case to the Board of Directors or during the annual general meeting.
     

  • Classes at Historisch Schermgilde Limburg are attended by an individual at their own risk. Therefore it is important to follow the directions of our instructors. Additionally, we strongly recommend to take out a liability insurance and health insurance in case of calamities during our classes. Historisch Schermgilde Limburg is not liable for injuries or accidents sustained during our classes, and we have our own accident insurance and liability insurance for our Board of Directors which may be called in extreme cases.
     

  • If an instructor finds that an individual is intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or other psychedelic substances during classes or events, said individual will be denied access for the remainder of the class. The repeated usage of alcoholics or drugs during classes may lead to a termination of membership. 
     

  • Instructors reserve the right to deny access to individuals due to safety concerns. Always follow the directions of instructors and assistants for your safety and that of others.
     

  • Historisch Schermgilde Limburg has acquired equipment for usage on loan during our classes, to support members who are just starting out. We want to encourage members to start acquiring their own equipment after at least a year of training, in order to be able to follow our classes on an advanced level.

Article 2: New members

  • An aspiring member must be at least 16 years old. It is recommended for aspiring members younger than 18 to be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians during trial classes.
     

  • Every individual will receive 3 non-binding trial classes free of charge, and must decide on pursuing or dropping membership after no more than 3 trial classes. Application forms can be requested from the Board of Directors.
     

  • Any injuries or any other (medical) conditions that may limit an individual's performance during (trial) classes should be discussed beforehand with an instructor, either in-person or digitally.
     

  • In order to become a member, an individual must submit their membership application as soon as possible to the Secretary of the club. 
     

  • Members and Board of Directors alike reserve the right to freely terminate a membership within 3 months of application without any further obligations. Payments in this period will be counted on a monthly basis.

Article 3: Membership

  • Being a member of Historisch Schermgilde Limburg grants you the right to attend its classes and events. We strive to organise at minimum 1 class a week, as classes may be cancelled due to unforseen reasons. The Board of Directors and instructors aim to inform members of cancellations as soon as possible.
     

  • Being a member of Historisch Schermgilde Limburg grants you the right to vote during the annual general meeting, which is hosted at least once a year. In case you cannot attend a meeting, you are allowed to authorise another member to vote in your name. An authorised member may only cast the vote of themself and 1 other member.
     

  • In case a member wishes to cancel their membership, they must inform the Board of Directors of this decision in writing or digitally as soon as possible. The cancellation will enter into force at the next yearly quarter.
     

  • Changes in residence or other personal information relevant to a member's registration with Historisch Schermgilde Limburg must be relayed to the Board of Directors (Secretary) through e-mail.

Article 4: Membership fees

  • Membership fees are collected quarterly, and members are obliged to transfer this at the first day of the new quarter.
     

  • The fixed amount of, and any changes to, membership fees are proposed by the Board of Directors during the annual general meeting, where the proposal will be accepted or rejected by members of Historisch Schermgilde Limburg. Currently, membership fees are €25,- a month (€75,- quarterly). Members may appeal to the Board of Directors in case they experience any trouble with payment of the amount of fees, or the frequency in which membership fees are collected.
     

  • In case a member does not meet their payment obligations to Historisch Schermgilde Limburg, the Board of Directors may decide to deny said member further access to classes and events until obligations are met. If payment obligations are not met after 3 months (without a valid reason), membership of said member will be terminated automatically.
