Ringen
Ringen is an Old German term referring to close-quarters combat or wrestling, with or without weapons. In the context of HEMA, Ringen often occurs when two fighters have come close enough to the point where their primary weapons are not effective anyone, and therefore switch to their secondary weapons (often daggers) or hand-to-hand combat to incapacitate or kill their opponent. Many of the techniques found in Ringen are based on grappling and/or throwing the opponent with or without a weapon.

Our club's Ringen curriculum is based on the principles laid out by the 15th and 16th-century masters Paulus Hector Mair and Hans Talhoffer.
