Registration

Following the success of the first BUTR Cup, the Historisch Schermgilde Limburg and de Zwaardkring continue their collaboration within HEMA Onder De Rivieren (HODR) with the second edition of the BUTR Cup.

The goal of the BUTR (Battle Under the Rivers) Cup is to create an accessible environment for people who want to compete in Longsword tournaments without being thrown into the deep end.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The beginners' tournament is for everyone (18+) with less than two years of HEMA experience and/or a maximum of two open/large tournaments

Have you been training for a longer period but still consider yourself a beginner? Please indicate this on the registration form, and we will discuss it with your instructor.

The BUTR Cup will feature a Beginner's Open Longsword Category and a Beginner's Women's+ Longsword Category.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

When: Saturday, 28 March 2026
Where: Sporthal de Vijfkamp, Vijfkamplaan 5, 5624 EB Eindhoven
Discipline: Longsword (Open & Women's+)

RULESET

The BUTR Cup follows the general rules and equipment standards established by HEMA Onder de Rivieren (HODR).
Please note that these may be subject to change.

WOMEN'S+ CATEGORY

The Women+ category in HEMA tournaments is intended to create a fair and meaningful competitive space for women, supporting their development, visibility, and participation in a sport where they have historically been underrepresented. It offers an environment in which women can track their progress and compete without routinely facing structural physical disadvantages, while affirming that historical fencing is open to all regardless of gender.

Although primarily focused on women, this category is also open to non-binary fencers who feel these considerations apply to them and that their participation supports the purpose of the division. As non-binary experiences vary, it is up to each individual to decide whether this category is right for them.

The Open division remains open to fencers of all genders.
